Yay School’s Out (Oh Yeah Did I Mention The O’s Won!)

That’s right the school year is over! This calls for champagne!

“Non-alcoholic of course!”

To celebrate, TOO will encorporate some of my main subjects into this post.

Oh yeah did I mention the O’s won in walk-off fashion babiiiiiieeeee!!!!

“Since when are you Dicky V?”

The Orioles drafted Georgia Tech catcher Matt Wieters with the fifth overall pick in the 2007 draft.

It starts by MW getting a double

“15 doubled is 30 and 30 doubled is 60!”

Then Reimold gets walked and now we have runners on first and second and here comes B-Rob and he hits a gronuder, and they try to get Pie (pinch running for MW) at third since he is the lead runner

Felix Pie slides safely into third, beating the throw to the Mets' David Wright in the bottom of the ninth.

“SSSSAAAAAFFFFFEEEEEE!!!!!!!”

Bases loaded AJ’s batting, the Yard is up will he

A. get a base hit and tie the game

B. hit a walk-off ground slam

C. strikeout

D. get walked

“The answer is D!!!”

That’s right he gets an RBI, via the walk! And the game is tied!

“YAY”

Now here comes The Greek God

zeuskakis.jpg

And he gets struck out looking!

Now here comes Aubrey Huff, lThursday’s hero, and guess what he does!

Aubrey Huff (right) is mobbed by teammates after he hits a one-out RBI single in the bottom of the 9th inning to beat the Mets.

The picture says it all!

I know why the Orioles won last night, let me begin with a stat the O’s going into last night’s game were O-and-34 now why is the 34 so special? Wild Bill Hagy, the Roar form 34! Alos because I listened to some Orioles Magic before the game so that also helped, plus my MW shirt is lucky! The O’s are 2-0 when I wear it!

Kevin Jewukilis

Kevin Youklilis was born in Cincy in 1979. Kevin has had many important achivements including Macher of Day honors multiple times, all-star first baseman, and having his nickanme echoed in Fenway Park.

Jewuk was born to a Jewish jewelry salesman, he atteneded the Cincy where broke almost every school hitting record. When the red sox drafted him in the 8th round of the draft.

As a prospect he was mentioned in Moneyabll calling the Greek God of walks. THis was the first the mainstream had head of him. In fact Billy made manny trades t oget the macher but Theo turned all of them down!

In 2006 he was part of the starting line up, then in 2007 he got better. I nfact on one occasion in the ALDS he hit a homerun and I spontainusley (sp) blerted out “YOOOOUUUUUK.”

In 2008 he was voted to his first all-star a very important achivment for any player.

This year he has been red hot and he looks like he has a chance to be Macher of the year!

Why We WiIl Be Seeing This Very Soon

worldseriestrophy.jpg

My Reasons Why The O’s Will Win It All

  1. Matt Wieters will have the greatest season by a rookie ever and will propel the O’s to the WS.
  2. O's are this years Rays!.jpg

3. We are due!!! 11 straight losing seasons!!! Only the Pirates and perhaps the Royals are more due. (BTW bold prediction O’s over Roayls in ALCS) May the baseball gods help us!

4. We have a ridiculous farm system that includes: Jake Arrieta, Brian Matsuz, Chris Waters (he had a quality start against the Angels in his first start!!) and drumroll please

MATT WIETERS!!!!! And when they are called up they all will make a difference.

5.  Orioles Magic is real!!

6. We have what our lucky charm. Koji! He’s our first Japanese player and that might be what the O’s needed. Just look around the league, the marque teams have Japanese guys, the RAYS HAVE A GUY!

7. The O’s are motivated by the Ravens to be overachivers get the citys love back.

8. Oh yeah did the mention thta we have an outfield with more potential then then Bill Gates has money. These guys are going to just keep getting better and they will be one of the best of outfield in the league

9. We have an equally good in field with Izturus, Huff, B-Rob and Melvin each bringing something different to the table.

MLB Preview: Orioles

I’m going to start writing team previews. I shall begin with the O’s.

Orioles Preview

IbELIEVE!!!!!.gif

Key Additions: UTIL Ty Wiggington, OF Felix Pie, P Rich Hill, P Koji Uehara, C Greg Zaun, UTIL Ryan Freel, SS Cezar Izturus

Key Losses: P Daniel Cabrera, P Brian Burres, C Ramon Hernandez

The Baltimore Orioles were one of the most busy teams in terms of free agency. Seven key additions. However the Yankees signed the two main free agents the O’s were bidding for: Mark (insert cuss that ends in ing here) Texeira and A.J. Burnett. I along with pretty much every other O’s fan out there would pounce on Texeira gear. However the Orioles moved on and Andy McPhail made some nice moves. He changed up the rotation. I’m so glad that he got rid of Hernandez and Cabrera. Cabrera as the O’s Fred Manfra and Joe Angel describe him as: A girl with curly hair. It’s either is really good (say the time he had no-no against the Yankees through 6 or 7) or really bad. He always made me nervous. And Ramon Hernandez was a slow poke. He never seemed like he was hustling. However his back up Guillmero Quiroz was always hustling. The Orioles also did two things to really boost their revenue. Change uniforms which result in big time cash for those who want to get the up to date gear and they also signed a Japanese player. And according to my fellow bloggers who have Dice-K or someone else they take tours and hold up signs that nobody can read.

The Orioles farm system is freakishly gifted. They have Matt Wieters!!! This guy will be the O’s version Evan Longoria. Speaking of the Rays the O’s have plenty of similarities. First they changed their uniforms, second they have a big name prospect waiting in the wings. I strongly believe that the O’s can be this year’s Rays.

The rotation of the Orioles got treated like a child with a easily breakable toy. They break keep some of it then put it back together. But the thing is is the toy put back together nicely does it stay in it’s awful shape. I think it’s pretty good. You have Jeremy Guthrie who could be a Cy Young winer. NO I’M NOT OVEREXAGERATING!!!Then you have the guy who I’m really starting to take a liking to.  Koji Uehara (上原 浩治). Like I said earlier this guy will get a lot of fans. I going to have to bring a cheat sheet with basic Japanese phrase in English and Japanese for things like Get A Strikeout Koji!!

The Orioles outfield seems like an outfield that could be one for the record books. You have Nick Markakis who somehow hasn’t won a Gold Glove, Adam Jones: the crown jewel of the Berdard trade and the tag team of Scott and Wiggington. Thats an outfield loaded with potential.

The infiled is solid too. You have a palyero f the month at third, a gold glover at short, and All-Star at second and a guy who hit for the cycle at first that makes the infield sound pretty good. The thing is those guys are Melvin Mora, Cezar Izturus, Brian Roberts and Aubrey Huff. With the aqusition of Izturus the O’s found a reliable shortstop. Last year I’m not sure which there were more of, shortstops starting at sunday home games or wins at Sunday home games.

The backstop is the main interest. The $1,000,000 for me and every O’s fan. When is Matt getting called up!!!! Here’s a trivia nugget. Gregg Zaun is related to Orioles broadcaster, WS MVP and ex first-base coach Rick Dempsey.

Lissi won trivia yesterday with Ichiro and So Taguchi. I wasn’t expecting So Taguchi nor did I know that!! Today is a 4 out of 10.

Who gave up George Brett’s famous/infamous pine tar homer?

Orioles Spring Training II

I’m back for more observations and stuff on the Orioles.

B-Rob’s New Contract

I can happpily say that the B-Rob is not leaving the Orioles any time soon. He signed a new 4 year deal with 10 mil per year. Brian Roberts is my favorite active player. He is the kind of guy you would build a team around. he hustles, fields well and is a base stealer. He also has vetarn expirence. I was concerned that he wasn’t going to be an Oriole when my dad and I were going to go Wrigley. Over the summer as a present my dad and I went Wrigley to see the Orioles and da Cubbies. If we were to be at Wrigley and B-rob in a cub uni that would be interesting indeed.

I have a couple reasons why he is my favorite player. I went to Spring Training one year in the 2000’s (McGwire was there.) and Brian signed my ball. This was before he was known well. Then when he was actually playing for the Orioles I liked the number 1 (BTW my lucky number is 11) on his jersey. And he always hustles and that other stuff I mentioned in the previous paragraph.

brianroberts.jpg“The Orioles Have Ryan Freel ?”

The haven’t been paying a lot of atttention in spring training stuff. I was on the Orioles homepage and thye have a list of articles flashing and one was something like Ryan Freel Provides Veteran Bench Expirence and I thought to myself  “The Orioles Have Ryan Freel?” I then checked the depth chart and there were some guys who I had an “Oh Yeah ” reaction for. In fact Earl Weaver himself dissed Spring Training “No one’s gonna give a da** in July if you lost a game in March.”
